Christopher Priest ഇന്റെ ഇതേ പേരിലുള്ള പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ ദൃശ്യാവിഷ്‌കാരം ആയ ഈ  മാജിക്കൽ സൈക്കോളജിക്കൽ ത്രില്ലെർ  ചിത്രം Christopher Nolan ഉം അദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ Jonathan Nolan ടെയും തിരക്കഥയിൽ Christopher Nolan ആണ്‌ സംവിധാനം നിർവഹിച്ചത് .. 

ചിത്രം നടക്കുന്നത് 1890 ഇൽ ആണ്‌... ലണ്ടനിലെ ജോൺ സിസ്റ്റർ എന്ന മജീഷ്യന്റെ മാജിക്‌ ട്രൂപ്പിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്ന Robert Angier-Alfred Borden എന്നി രണ്ട് മജിഷ്യൻസിലൂടെയാണ് ചിത്രം പുരോഗമിക്കുന്നത്... അങ്ങനെ ഉള്ള ഒരു മാജിക്‌ പ്രോഗ്രാമിനിടെ angier ഇന്റെ ഭാര്യ ജൂലിയ ഒരു അപകടത്തിൽ മരണപെടുന്നതും,  അതിനു കാരണം borden ആണ്‌ എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന angier,  ബോർഡിനെ അവന്റെ ശത്രു ആയി കാണാൻ തുടങ്ങുന്നതോടെ അവർ തമ്മിൽ  ഒരു മത്സരം ഉടലെടുക്കുകയും അതിനോട് അനുബന്ധിച്ചു നടക്കുന്ന സംഭവങ്ങൾ ആണ്‌ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഇതിവൃത്തം.... 

Alfred Borden എന്ന the profferssor/fallon ആയി Christian Bale എത്തിയ ചിത്രത്തിൽ Robert Angier എന്ന The Great Danton/Lord Caldlow കഥാപാത്രം ആയി Hugh Jackman എത്തി.... ഇവരുടെ വഴികാട്ടി John Cutter ആയി Michael Caine എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഇവരെ കൂടാതെ Piper Perabo, Rebecca Hall, Scarlett Johansson എന്നിങ്ങനെ വലിയൊരു താരനിര ഈ ചിത്രത്തിൽ ഉണ്ട്... 

David Julyan സംഗീതം നൽകിയ ഈ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ എഡിറ്റിംഗ് Lee Smith ഉം ഛായാഗ്രഹണം Wally Pfister ഉം ആയിരുന്നു...Touchstone Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, Newmarket Films, Syncopy എന്നിവരുടെ ബന്നേരിൽ    Emma Thomas, Aaron Ryder, Christopher Nolan എന്നിവർ നിർമിച്ച ഈ ചിത്രം Buena Vista Pictures Distribution (North America), Warner Bros. Pictures (International) എന്നിവർ സംയുക്തമായി ആണ്‌ വിതരണം നടത്തിയത്.. 

ക്രിട്ടിസിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ നല്ല അഭിപ്രായം നേടിയ  ഈ ചിത്രം ബോക്സ് ഓഫീസിലും നല്ല വിജയം ആയി... Academy Award for Best Art Direction, Academy Award for Best Cinematography, Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നോമിനേഷൻസ് ലഭിച്ച ഈ ചിത്രം The A.V. Club ഇന്റെ one of the best films of the 2000s ആയും, Empire magazine ന്റെ  "The 100 Greatest Movies Of The 21st Century" യിൽ ഒന്നായും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു... ഇന്നും ഇടയ്ക്ക് കാണുന്ന എന്റെ പ്രിയ നോളൻ ചിത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്ന്...
